Delete your data

Applies to the Proofbox Android app Updated 14 October 2026

The short version. Proofbox stores everything on your phone and nothing with us. Deleting data in the app or uninstalling the app removes it immediately and completely from the device. There is no server-side copy to request, no waiting period and no account to close.

Delete one item

  1. Open the itemTap it in the Items tab or on the Deadlines timeline.
  2. Tap DeleteIt is at the bottom of the item screen, next to Edit and Share.
  3. ConfirmThe item, its receipt photo file and its reminder entries are removed at once. Any pending reminder for it will not fire.

Delete several items

  1. Long-press an itemIn the Items list, long-press any row to enter selection mode.
  2. Select moreTap other rows to add them to the selection.
  3. Tap Delete and confirmAll selected items and their photos are removed.

Delete everything in the app

  1. Go to SettingsThird tab in the bottom bar. Scroll to the Your data section: Settings→Your data→Delete all data.
  2. Confirm twiceThe first dialog ("Delete all data?") has a Continue button, the second ("Are you sure?") a Yes, delete everything button. The action is two-step on purpose, because it cannot be undone. You may want to run Export (Settings → Backup) first if you ever want the data back.
  3. DoneAll items, photos and the reminder log are wiped and your settings return to their defaults (the welcome screen is not shown again). The daily reminder check keeps running but has nothing left to remind you about; switch off Deadline reminders in Settings → Notifications if you want it to stop entirely.

Uninstall

Uninstalling Proofbox (long-press the app icon → Uninstall, or Android Settings → Apps → Proofbox → Uninstall) removes the app together with its entire private storage: database, photos, log and settings. Android does this for every app; nothing of Proofbox remains on the device. Android Settings → Apps → Proofbox → Storage → Clear storage has the same effect on the data while keeping the app installed.

Android backup

If backup is turned on in your Android settings, Android may have included Proofbox's data in your own device backup (stored in your Google Account or with your device manufacturer). Deleting data in the app does not reach into that backup immediately; Android overwrites it with the app's new, empty state at its next backup run, and removes app data from the backup some time after the app is uninstalled, according to Google's or your manufacturer's rules. To take control yourself:

  • run Delete all data in the app and leave the phone connected to Wi-Fi and charging so the next backup replaces the old copy;
  • or turn off backup for apps, or delete the device backup, under Settings → Google → Backup (names vary by manufacturer and Android version);
  • on a Google Account you can also review and delete device backups at Google Drive → Backups.

That backup is yours; we have no access to it and cannot delete it for you.

Export files and shared photos

ZIP files you created with Settings → Backup → Export (named proofbox-backup.zip by default) live wherever you saved them (your Downloads folder, a cloud drive you picked, an SD card). Delete them there. The same goes for any photo or summary you shared from an item to another app: that copy is held by the app you shared to.

Anything held by us

We hold no app data about you, so there is nothing to request. The one exception is e-mail: if you have written to proofbox@kubeharbor.space, we keep that correspondence for up to 12 months and will delete it earlier on request. Just ask in a reply or a new e-mail; we confirm deletion within 5 business days. More in the Privacy Policy.
